Our story
Built on a bet about where AV is heading.
The future of AV is networking. Lights, speakers, shades, cameras, and control are all moving to IP and low
voltage. The integrators who understand that will be the ones still standing in ten years. Home AV Pros is
built on that bet.

2011
A side job becomes a craft.
Ernst started Home AV Pros while working in IT, mounting TVs and running cable on evenings and weekends. The
work that came back the most consistently was the work the wholesalers and franchises were getting wrong,
the low-voltage and networking pieces that nobody else wanted to own.
Networking-trained
Computer networking shaped how we see the house.
Ernst went to school for computer networking, not for AV. That order matters. We design the network first
and the entertainment system second, because almost everything on a modern install rides on the network at
some point. PoE switches, IP cameras, Josh.ai control, streaming, even some of the lighting. The wiring
closet is the foundation.
Direct relationships
No wholesaler in the middle.
We work direct with Sonos, Lutron, Josh.ai, Ubiquiti, and the other manufacturers we install. That means
better training, better support, and a phone that gets answered when something goes sideways. It also means
we picked them on purpose. They are not what our wholesaler stocked.
Family on every job
You will see the same faces on the first visit and the install.
Ernst's dad is on roughly eighty percent of jobs. His brother helps a couple of days a week. We bring on
extra hands when projects scale, but the family is on every install. That continuity is the difference
between a job that gets finished and a job that gets handed off.
Insured and licensed
The cleanest hand-off your builder can make.
Fully insured. Fully licensed. We work with electricians and general contractors across Wisconsin and
northern Illinois who refer us because the low-voltage and Cat cable work is the part of the job they would
rather not own. We make that hand-off boring, which is exactly what they want.
